Why I don’t hate Mondays!

Monday, March 10th, 2008

It was a stormy night here in the UK, and I woke up this morning thinking of all those people who have to commute to work in high winds and rain. I well remember that sinking feeling of waking up on Monday morning and having to battle my way to work in all kinds of weather.

Us Stay at Homes have a cozy commute every morning - from the breakfast table to the spare room/office, in pyjamas and slippers if preferred (though, personally, I like to be dressed - it makes me feel a little more professional!)

If you wake up with a sinking heart every Monday morning, then consider a legitimate online business and be your own boss. It may take a while before you can sack the boss and work full time from home, but it will be well worth it. You’ll never be able to say “I hate Mondays” again!

Plenty of ideas for getting started on your way to Financial Freedom can be found at my website, full of legitimate online business ideas.

It must be a scam!

Saturday, March 8th, 2008

Well, it’s rant of the week time.

I just saw a post on a network marketing forum which made my blood boil.  Luckily I didn’t reply as others had done that already.

This person was complaining that he had done EVERYTHING to get his Pluginprofit site going, and it just wasn’t working for him.   He had spent money, followed the program and he just wasn’t getting any sales.  He had therefore decided that pluginprofit is a scam and a pyramid scheme.

Guess how long he had been with this business.

Two weeks.

Two weeks??  Yep.  Two weeks.  Barely enough time  to even learn the program, let alone put it into practice.  I noticed that it was only his first post in the forum - so he had not, as he had claimed, been doing everything to make his business work!

Boy, if anyone needed to see my last blog it was this guy.

Sadly, it is this kind of attitude that gives this industry a bad name.  People expect to get rich quick and when they don’t, they decide it is the program at fault.  They then tell others that mlm is a scam.

This is a business, and like any other business, it takes time and effort to make it work.   I am sure we are all guilty, at times, of looking for that “holy grail” that will make all our dreams come true.  The truth is that the holy grail lies within ourselves.  We are the creators of our own lives, our own success.

Network marketing programs like Pluginprofit are great opportunities - but only if you are prepared to work and have patience.  You are the one that makes it happen.  If you understand this, they can be your gateway to financial freedom beyond any salary or pension scheme!

Ok, rant over.  I feel better now.

Have patience

Friday, March 7th, 2008

In today’s world of instant gratification, patience is something we are often not prepared to have.

This seems to be particularly true of the network marketing industry, where thousands of people sign up hoping for immediate profits. Many fall by the wayside when they realise that it takes time and effort. But for those of us prepared to learn, work and develop the art of patience, there are riches and success ahead.

I am not always a patient person. I get frustrated when things don’t start to work immediately. But I hope that I have the sense to realise that those things that give instant gratification are often fleeting, and those things I need to have patience for and to work for are longer lasting and worth far more in the end.

I also constantly need to remind myself of the things I already have, and the progress I make every day. If we focus too much on the end result, we forget to enjoy the journey. We need a balance: plan and work for the future, but live in the present.

This way we have a win:win situation. We can enjoy our lives now, and we can feel the great satisfaction when our goals and dreams come true.

Happiness is one thing we don’t have to wait for. That is something we can create every day.

Enjoy the journey.

Do you have financial goals or life goals?

Thursday, March 6th, 2008

If we have understood the importance of setting goals at all, then most of us have both, of course.

Financial goals are fine.  I have several myself: very specific, time related goals (e.g. I want to be earning X amount of £s by such and such a date).

But let us not get stuck on money as its own object.

What is money, after all?  Bits of paper and numbers on a bank statement.

Who can get passionate about that?

No, the most powerful goals that we really need to be aiming for are the things that money can bring us.

When we say “I want to make money”, what we are really saying is, I want the things I can get with money that I don’t have now.

These things may be a new car, house, clothes etc - but even these things have deeper goals behind them.  I can think of five basic things that money can bring:

1.  Self expression (e.g. with a car, clothes etc)

2.  The ability to do the things I want (e.g. holidays, hobbies)

3.  Security (e.g. freedom from anxiety and worries)

4.  Environment  (e.g. choosing where I live)

5.  Contribution (e.g. giving to our family, friends, the world)

And even these things can be summed up in one word:  FREEDOM.

When we really look at our reasons for wanting money and success, what we really want is Freedom - either the freedom to live the life we want, the freedom to choose - or the freedom of not having to worry about bills, mortgages, or both.

So when you are setting your financial goals, think beyond just how much money you want, think about how your life will be when you have freedom.  Money is just a tool that brings you the freedom to be who you really are.

Now, being who you really want to be…

Isn’t that something to get passionate about?

The Power of Positive Thinking

Wednesday, March 5th, 2008

Do you ever wake up in the morning filled with anxiety and worries about the coming day, or the future in general? What do you do about it? Do you carry on building on those thoughts, or do you do something about it?

As a life coach, I know how important it is to use positive thoughts to change your life. But sometimes it seems to be an enormous effort to stop negative thinking and turn your experience of the day around. In the morning rush and chaos, it is difficult to find the time to focus on positive thoughts!

This morning I woke up worrying about how soon I would start making the income that I need. This is what I did.

First of all, I became aware that I was thinking in a negative way. I then decided not to give my thoughts any power, so I focused on the other things I needed to do to get the day going.

Then, when I had a few moments of peace (it was while I was walking the dog), I started visualising how my life would be when I had my goal income. I also looked around me and really appreciated my life as it is now (this is really important!) - the sun was out, it was a quiet country lane just a few moments from my front door, and my dog was as happy as ever to be out.

When I got back home, I looked at two inspirational messages I get sent to my inbox every day (this is a really great way to start the day - try the Notes from the Universe from Tut.com). By that time, I was really believing in my ability to achieve my financial goals. I said a few affirmations, and started my working day in a good mood.

A few minutes later, a client of mine rang to ask if I would mind helping him out with a book he wanted to write. Did I mind? Er…. no. This client is someone I trust and I know he’ll pay me well and quickly.

So, it really doesn’t have to take too much to use the power of positive thinking to change your life, and the changes can be immediate!

Works for me.
