Listen to Books While You Work

Tuesday, April 15th, 2008

If you are very busy, you might feel that you just don’t have time to read books. If, like me, you love books, this could be very frustrating. For the internet marketer, particularly, there are so many self help books always being promoted that you could feel that you are missing out. The answer is to listen to books while you are doing something else.

I can’t always listen to something while I’m working, but it really depends on what I’m doing. While I’m writing or reading I need either silence or undemanding music. But there are plenty of other things that I have to do on automatum when I could quite happily listen to a voice. Developing my website, accounts, clearing my inbox etc, or even non-business things such as housework are the type of boring activities which would be greatly enhanced by a good story or motiviational stuff.

Also, if you’ve got kids who spend more time on the computer than you’d like them to rather than reading, audio books might be an answer.

As an affiliate of Leisure Audio Books, I really believe they have a great product. The quality of their audio books is excellent and they have a wide range of all genres.

Have a look at what they have on offer through these links:

Business Audio Books

Self Help Audio Books

Fiction Audio Books

And here are some for your kids!

Juvenile Audio Books

Of course, Leisure Audio Books also has a business opportunity which is free to join.  You can find out more HERE.

If you want to listen to books on other subjects, you can find all the information HERE.

Enjoy your books!

Earn some extra money doing paid surveys

Monday, April 14th, 2008

We all need extra cash at times, and a little bit of extra pocket money is always welcome.  If you are building a business, it can be very useful to earn some extra money to pay for expenses while you are building a client list.

I’ve been doing paid surveys for years, and the payments are a very welcome source of extra income.

Some survey companies are free to join, though the pay-out is probably less, and others need a small fee, but have better payouts.

If you have a few minutes, or an hour or two to spare every day, this can be an extremely useful source of income.   Anyone who could do with some extra pocket money can benefit:  single moms, home workers, students or anyone who would like some easy extra cash.

Doing surveys is easy and it can also be interesting and fun.  I’ve provided a few links below to some companies you might find useful:

Survey Scout Costs a fee to join, but the pay-outs are excellent.  This pays between $5 and $75 per survey, and you can also get paid $100s for joining focus groups and other stuff.

Inbox Dollars  Free to join!  In fact, they actually pay you $5 to sign up.  After that you can get paid between 35c and $4 for surveys as well as reading emails and playing games.

Cash4Offers  US only.  Get paid for taking surveys, reading email and accepting special offers.  I don’t use this one, but I think it’s free (if anyone want to let me know, please use comment box)

SurveyClub  Free.  Available in US, Canada and some other countries.   Make money and win prizes for taking surveys - I think the payouts are pretty good on this one.

Ciao!   I’ve been using Ciao for years and I really like them.  There’s lots you can do: write reviews, take surveys and become part of an online community.  Free to join and available in all countries (as far as I know).

For a few more ideas to earn some extra money you can visit my Survey page on my website at www.wealth-city.com/paid-surveys.html

PlugInProfitSite Review

Saturday, April 12th, 2008

Are you thinking of joining PlugInProfit?  Are you wondering whether it’s a scam, or whether it really delivers all it promises?  Perhaps you are just wondering about online businesses in general and are considering all the options?

I have been a member of the PlugInProfit site for five months, and I think that is enough time to give it a balanced review.  I don’t believe in hype, so this is going to be an honest opinion and will hopefull give you some of the answers you may be looking for.

Here are ten of the questions people ask about PlugInProfit, with my answers, based on my own experience.

1.   QWhat is PlugInProfitA.  PlugInProfitSite (or PIPS) is an internet marketing system that helps its members to promote up to 6 separate affiliate programs with a personal website and 30 day training course.

2.  Q.  Is it really free?  A.  PIPS itself is a free program.  However, when you join PIPS you will need to set up a hosting account in order to set up your personalised website.  This costs just under $25 per month (plus an up-front joining free).  However, the hosting account used is one of the 6 affiliate programs and you will be paid a monthly commission for each person you refer.  Once you have 3 referrals, the hosting pays for itself.

3.  Q.  Do I have to join all 6 programsA.  No.  You can join as many as you like.  If you are short of money, you can just sign up for the free programs (SFI and Leisure Audio Books).  The only program you have to join is the hosting program in order to set up your website.

4.  Q.  Do I have to promote all the programs separately?  A.  The whole point about PIPS is that it helps you to promote up to 6 income streams under one umbrella.  At first, all you have to do is follow the training and get traffic to your website, where all 6 programs are advertised with your affiliate links embedded.  Some people do like to do separate advertising for each program, but this entirely a matter of personal choice and is only recommended once you are a little more confident about internet marketing.

5.  Q.  Can I make money straight away?  A.  Probably not.  Like any other online business, it takes time to build a profit.  It all depends on how much time and effort you can put into your business.  If you are prepared to work hard on it, it will reward you.  However, it can take up to 2 years, working on it part-time, before you will achieve a full time income.  For some it may be sooner, or longer - it really does depend on you.

6.  Q.  What kind of training & support will I receieve?  A.  In my opinion, the training and support available in PIPS is the best you will get on any program.  The 30 day training course may not be perfect, but it will give you a basic knowledge of internet marketing, which is why PIPS is a good program for newbies.  Also, the PIPS forum is full of people who will give you straight answers and advice if you need any help at all.

I will also just say here that if you join here I will be your sponsor, and I always answer any questions my affiliates have and help them as much as I can.   This is something I enjoy and you will always get straight anwers from me.

7.  Q.  Who is Stone Evans?  A.  Stone Evans is a guy who started off his own business several years ago, with very little money.  It took him a long time of trial and error to get him to his position today - one of the top affiliate marketers in the business.  His 30 day training program is a culmination of everything he learned during that time, and is geared to help newbies find success quicker than he did.

8.  Q.  Is PIPS a scam?  A.  Definitely not.  While it is not perfect, it is a valid and legitimate affiliate marketing system that helps people to build a profit online.

9.  Q.  So, is it a good program?  A.  Any affiliate program is only as good as the effort you are prepared to put into it.  However, I will say that if you are new to internet marketing, it’s a very good place to start.

10.  Q.  If I join, can I cancel at any time?  A.  Yes.  If you join PIPS and at a later date decide it is not for you, you can cancel your account.  However, I would recommend to anyone that they give it a trial period of at least six months in order to see solid results.

You can join PIPS HERE (you need to scroll to the bottom of the page) or if you want more information you can find another article on my website.  (my feature article is towards the bottom of the page).

If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact me at rosbott@googlemail.com.  I will be happy to answer any other questions.

Becoming Rich: It’s all about attitude

Friday, April 11th, 2008

Paul McKenna’s book, I Can Make You Rich, has a great title. It’s very compelling. The statement is a very confident one and on the cover, McKenna looks out at you candidly, re-inforcing his bold statement. If becoming rich is an important goal, I defy anyone not to want to buy it!

So, does it deliver?

I’m not rich yet, BUT half way through reading it I did take the opportunity of starting a home business, and I know that this was THE THING that will get me there.

So, yes, I believe it does deliver.

But, of course, ultimately it’s up to the reader. Paul McKenna can only make me rich if I apply the tools.

What I like about this book is that most of it is about clearing up our deep-seated beliefs and attitudes about money that may be holding us back. We may be doing all the right things that we need to be doing to make money, but if we have been taught somewhere in our lives that money is somehow corrupt, or that rich people are mean and selfish, that is going to be a barrier to being rich.

For example, while reading the book, I realised that I had some issues about “rich” people (which I had picked up from my father). It suddenly made complete sense why I have always struggled around money all my life. If I basically believe rich people to be greedy and selfish, how can I possibly allow myself to become one of those people? McKenna helps you to replace these in-built beliefs and thoughts with more positive ideas. One which particularly helps me is the way that money helps you to be the person you really are - it creates freedom; the freedom to express yourself, to help others and to do what you really want to do.

McKenna gives you lots of excises to overcome these issues and focus on positive thoughts around money, as well as an excellent half hour hypnosis cd which comes with the book.

In the last half of the book, he deals with more practical ways of making money, such as how to get ideas and building a business plan.

If you have money issues; if it appears that no matter what you do, you just find it difficult to get the money you need, or if becoming rich sees to be an uphill struggle, then I highly recommend this book.

You can buy it here through Amazon:

How Do You Define Success?

Thursday, April 10th, 2008

We use this word so often, but what do we really mean by it?  Most of us want success, but which terms are we using, and are they ours?  Before we can be successful in any project, surely we have to define success on our own terms so that we know what we’re actually aiming for?

To many people success is about money, but this is not true for everyone.  For some it’s about personal growth, or some sort of achievement.

Once we know what we personally mean by success, only then can we truly hope to achieve it - and if we want to, we can achieve it every day.

To read further, go to my article, How Do You Define Success for more information and tips on defining your own terms of success.

But if you already know what success means to you, why not give yourself the best chance of achieving it and enrol in Success University?  There you will find the top success trainers in the world available to you online.

Remember, you must know how to define success before you can chase after it - or you will end up either achieving someone else’s idea of success - or nothing.

Being made redundant: Is it always a disaster?

Tuesday, April 8th, 2008

I have been made redundant twice in my life. My reactions to both events were completely different. The first time was in my early 20s and I was delighted; I had been bored and unhappy in my job as a theatre box office clerk and didn’t know how to move on. Being made redundant was the best thing that could happen to me and I remember that all I felt was a huge relief and sense of freedom.

The second time was different. I had only been in that particular job a year (I was a secretary in a solicitor’s office) and I was very happy in it. The work was interesting and I had a really nice boss. When they laid people off during the early 90s recession, I was one of the first to go, and I was devastated.

However, in both cases, the redundancy enabled me to move on to different stages of my life which I now know were far more important to me than being a clerk or a secretary for the rest of my life.

My reaction to the first redundancy was positive, and interestingly enough, I got another job within two weeks working behind the scenes in the Royal Shakespeare Theatre as a dresser, which was far more exciting!

My negative reaction to the second redundancy (many years after the first one) put me into a different mindset. It took me a while to find a new job, and that was only part-time. But it also meant that I started looking into running my own business part-time, and I started doing something I really enjoyed, which was researching family history for other people.

So, what’s my point? Well, it’s about choice. You may feel that when you lose your job you have no choice in the matter, and that is true. However, you do have a choice in your reactions to the situation. We can either see things positively and view everything that happens as an opportunity to move on, do something different, or even better, or we can decide that the whole world is against us and close our minds to what life may actually be bringing us.

Of course, losing your job is usually going to come as a shock or a disappointment and I am not denying that anyone might feel bad about that for a while. It is one’s attitude to the event that makes the difference. You can feel sad and upset, but you can also still decide that this is an opportunity and say to yourself, “Well, what next?”.

This morning I heard that a fellow home business owner had just lost his job and his main income. Was he feeling victimised and angry? No; although he was sad and worried about losing his main source of income, it had motivated him to make his home business a success and really get it going.

It could be the best thing that’s happened to him.

So, if you are being made redundant, I understand and sympathise. But I will also say, “Great! Now what’s out there for you? What exciting and new opportunities are just around the corner? Perhaps you are now free to choose something even better…”

Thinking of changing your life?

Monday, April 7th, 2008

We all have times in our lives when we stop and wonder whether there might be something better, or more meaningful. Unfortunately, many people do not take the next step because they get stopped by fear, or a belief that what they want is not possible, or perhaps they have people around them who tell them they can’t do it. If you are thinking of changing your life, there is a huge amount of support that you can tap into, and probably far more opportunities than you may have thought possible.

A change in life is always a little scary, whether it’s a new job/career, moving house or a whole change in lifestyle or attitude. However, fear is never a good reason not to do something. In fact, feelings of fear are often a sign that you are on the right track. Those butterflies in your stomach, tingling nerves and sweaty palms are also a sign of excitement.

Why do people ride on roller coasters? Because they like the thrill and the feeling of exhileration afterwards. It’s kind of like taking a safe risk: your body feels the fear, but rationally you know you’ll be safe, so you can enjoy the sensation of fright.

Yet, many of those same people who will happily ride on roller coasters will not take a risk in life. Why? After all, even when things don’t work out in quite the way we planned, we still survive, and best of all, we learn from the experience and, whatever happens, we will have made progress in our own personal development. If you decide not to make a change, you will not move anywhere.

Thinking of your life as being like an exciting roller coaster can help when you are stuck. Changing your life then becomes part of an exciting ride through time, and when you look back on it, you will be able to feel the exhileration of having been a participant in your life, rather than a mere observer.

Personal Development Training Online - is it cost effective?

Friday, April 4th, 2008

If you are someone committed to personal transformation and development, you may feel that the best personal development programs are live seminars and training or life coaching.  Live events or personal coaching always feel more “hands on” and possibly more effective, but what if these methods are out of your reach, either financially or geographically?  In this case, personal development training online may be the best alternative.

If you want as near an experience as you possibly can to a live event, then you cannot go very wrong with a membership with Success University.  With tele-seminars, online courses and videos, CDs, DVDs (all from well-known leaders and trainers in the industry), email training and a very good business opportunity, you will not only spend very little for a great amount, but you can also earn a good income from referrals, if you so wish.

Think how much you can spend for life coaching (I’m a life coach myself, and my monthly fee is 5 times the monthly fee for SU - and many charge more than I do!).  A live seminar can cost several hundred - or even thousands of dollars.

Success University costs no more than $50 per month.  For this you have a constant flow of multi-media personal development training (including business and health modules) which is regularly updated with access to the best trainers in the business.

You don’t have to take my word for it, though.  You can trial it for 14 days with just a $2 contribution (that goes to a children’s charity).  You can sign up for the trial HERE.

Personally, if you want personal development training online, I believe it to be the best you will find.  It’s certainly one of the most popular.

Home Business on a Budget

Thursday, April 3rd, 2008

It’s all very well that many mlm programs are free to join - and many people sign up because they are free - Why? Because they don’t have much money, and they see an opportunity for earning more!

Unfortunately, sooner or later, the hopeful newbie comes to realise that in order to make it big time there has to be some advertising involved, as well as upgrading their intially free program to a paying one. Advertising costs money, doesn’t it? But I signed for free because I don’t have any!
At this point many newbies take one of two routes. They either start spending money they simply cannot afford in the hopes that throwing money at their business will make it work, finding themselves quickly sliding into debt, or they give up completely.

Is there another way? Is it possible to advertise your mlm program on a low budget and is there such a thing as low cost internet marketing?

Yes, there is.

The first thing you must do is work out how much you can afford (or not!) and set yourself a budget. Then have a look at my list of low/no cost ways of advertising your business on the net.

  • Firstly - and the only bit of money you need to spend initially - is to get your own website. This can be done fairly cheaply.
  • Learn how to optimize your website with keywords to help to get it higher on the search engine rankings
  • Start writing articles and submitting them
  • Start a blog (like this one)
  • Post in forums
  • Submit your site to free directories
  • Use traffic exchange sites

If you want more information on these methods and further advice on advertising your home business on a budget, go to my article, Advertising Your Home Business on a Budget.

Here are a few links to sites that can help you build you business for free or at low cost:

PlugInProfitSite - Gives you your own website with its own referral program (after 3 referrals the hosting pays for itself) - as well as 5 other income streams to promote.

Article Marketer - You can join for free and get your article out to a limited number of editors plus lots of free advice and tips on writing articles.

Dotcomology - Free e-book on marketing your site - includes information on SEO and keywords.

Traffic Swarm - Traffic Exchange - you can set up a free account, write an ad and start clicking!
