A Vision For Your Affiliate Marketing Business

Wednesday, October 22nd, 2008

Here is one of the emails from my Motivation To Succeed newsletter, that is sent FREE to every affiliate who signs up under me.   If you have an affiliate marketing business and would like to subscribe, see my website for details.

Hello

I want you to get in touch with what it was that you saw as
possible when you decided to start an affiliate marketing
business.

What did it mean to you? Did you just see the chance of
earning more money, or did you see a vision for your
future? Or both?

You might just have had a vague idea of improving your
life, having more freedom, more time and the chance to do
more of the things you’ve always wanted to do.

There’s nothing wrong with the above, except for the word,
“vague”.

You see, the clearer and stronger your vision, the more
powerful your chances of achieving it.

And the more excitment and passion you can feel about your
vision, the more motivated you will be to reach it.

Let’s look at this in a very simple way.

Your goal might be to have more money.

Does that excite you and inspire you?

Are you sure? Are small pieces of coloured paper, or
statements with large figures written on them really your
ultimate aim?

No - because it’s not money itself that really want - it’s
what that money can bring.

I want you to do something right now.

Take a piece of paper and write down all the things that
more money can bring you, that would excite you and inspire
you. Have fun with this and take your time. It should be
an enjoyable exercise!

As well as physical things that more money can bring, such
as a new car, or new clothes, try to think of lifestyle
changes (e.g. more holidays, taking up a new hobby), ways
of feeling (free, secure etc) or benefits that it can bring
to others: your family, your friends, your community -
perhaps even the possibility of helping others further
outside your own community.

Keep writing until you start to feel excited and inspired.

Now, take a few of the things on your list that really mean
something to you, the things that you can feel really
passionate about.

Close your eyes, and imagine that these things are now
happening. This is your life. Imagine getting up in the
morning and seeing the day ahead filled with all the things
that really mean something to you. Imagine the people you’d
meet, what you would do, how you would feel, what you would
be wearing, the car you’d drive, where you’d go.

Got it?

Now, you need to make this vision available to you on a
daily basis. Some people find that having a visual
stimulus is very useful - such as making up a collage of
pictures, or drawing their vision - or you might prefer to
use a series of affirmations written in the present tense.
Putting something like this where you will see it every day
will constantly remind you of what you are working towards.

Are you feeling excited and inspired?

Good. That’s what you need to keep you going.

In my next email I’m going to start looking at the
techniques of goal-setting, and we’re going to use the
vision you have created today to set some specific and
powerful goals that will give you a plan of action to
follow, and will get you closer to your vision every day.

Until then, keep working on your vision and enjoy!

Are You an Overwhelmed Affiliate Newbie?

Thursday, September 18th, 2008

I remember my first few weeks of my new affiliate marketing business.  I was so excited I could hardly sleep, and I could hardly bear anything that took me away from the computer for a few moments.  At the same time, there was so much information coming at me from various training programs, emails and well-meaning sponsors, I also felt completely overwhelmed.  As an affiliate newbie it is very easy to slip into information overload and spend so much time leaping from one piece of information to another that you are not actually getting anything done.

If this sounds like you, then don’t worry - you are certainly not alone!  There is a lot to learn when you start out, and it’s very difficult to know where to start.   You feel that you want to do everything at once; you start one thing, and then think you should be doing something else…

If your affiliate company has a training program (and if it’s a legitimate one it certainly should have) then make sure you read it step-by-step.

If you have joined several affiliate companies, you might be tempted to try and follow every training program - and end up horribly confused!  The best thing to do is to start off with one piece of training from one program.  Take the program you like best of all and do the first thing that they suggest - and do it until you feel confident with it.

Once you’ve mastered this one thing, go on to the next thing.  And so on.

This may feel slow - but believe me, you will be making far more progress than if you jump from one thing to the other and try to learn everything at once.

You will hear it said many times in this industry that this is a marathon, not a sprint.  Take your time; there is no rush.  Your business will build in time - and you need to give it time.

Be selective about the newsletters you sign up to - will you really have time to read them all?  Pick one or two that you feel will really help you and forget the rest.

So if you are an overwhelmed affiliate newbie, slow down, breathe, relax and enjoy.  Just make sure you do something every day that will progress your business.

The rest will follow.
