Wouldn't it be nice to be able to buy the things you want without having to check your bank balance first?  To feel secure in the knowledge that you have money saved for those occasional emergencies?  To treat your family to a holiday or buy a new car when you want to?  For many people having these things means working extra hours or getting an extra job, but this also means losing time that you could be spending with your family and friends.  Wouldn't it be nice if you could work half the time for more money by creating a residual income opportunity?

The attraction of this idea is what leads many people to starting an online business at home in the hopes that one day it will enable them to give up their main job and achieve financial freedom online.

Of course the big question that many people ask, is "Is it really possible to make a good living from home?"  Well, the answer, proven by many successful home business owners is, YES, you can!

Many online business programs will provide you with an opportunity to create a residual income that will set you financially free.  There are plenty of people right now enjoying the kind of life described above through affiliate marketing, resale rights or other online money making systems.

Of course you need to be careful.  There are online scams and fraudulent schemes that will have you believe that it's easy to get-rich-quick.  However, as long as you do some research it is really quite easy to avoid these and find a legitimate online business.  There are many forums devoted to internet marketing where there are people ready and willing to answer any questions you might have.  By joining a few of these forums and asking about the program you are considering you are bound to find people who have experienced it and will be able to tell you whether it is worth joining or not.

Occasionally you will come across some negative comments about legitimate companies - but by doing your homework you should be able to work out which has the most positive response, and usually these negative comments come from people who have not taken responsibility for putting the work into the business.

Another way of testing whether it is a legitimate company, is by checking out how easy it is to contact them by email or telephone.  If you do not get replies to your questions and cannot get in touch with a real person, it would be best to stay clear of it.  Give them a couple of days to reply, and if you haven't heard, forget it.

One other thing to look out for:  if the company requires a large sum of money to join without you being able to start with a free trial or find out what kind of a product or service they are offering, don't go anywhere near it. 

It's really not necessary to worry about falling into scams.  As long as you do the research and don't jump at the first opportunity you see, you will find most businesses operate with integrity.  Just remember that if it sounds too good to be true, it usually is!

Once you have done your homework, and perhaps found a few people who are already successful, you might change your question from "Is this really possible...?" to "What am I going to do to make it possible?"

The answer is up to you.  Just like starting any other business, you need to be prepared to work hard in the beginning in order to reap the rewards later.  Give yourself plenty of time to get your business going, learn all you can and put what you have learned into practice.

It is completely possible to earn a substantial residual income through an online business, but it is totally in your hands.  You can live the dream and become financially free.  All it takes is work and patience.
